The City Council has allocated £3.5m funding to deliver two phases of improvements to High Street West as part of its ongoing improvements to the city centre
The project seeks to improve how the city centre public realm looks, feels and functions with the objectives to :
Better connect new and existing destinations and spaces
Enhance links between the University and City Centre
Create a more attractive environment for residents and visitors
Support existing businesses and encourage new investment into the City Centre
An initial public, business and stakeholder consultation took place in February 2015 to establish the key priorities for environmental improvements to High Street West.
The outcomes of this consultation informed the development of draft proposals for a first Phase of improvements to High Street West from Bridge Street up to Keel Square.
The draft proposals introduce measures to improve traffic management around Bridge Street and Fawcett Street, including changing waiting restrictions. Proposals also introduce measures to create a more welcoming pedestrian environment - including new paving, planting, signage, street furniture and feature lighting.
The Council is seeking your views on draft proposals. A public and stakeholder consultation is taking place between 26th May and 15th June 2015.
