State-of-the-art technology is being used as part our commitment to reducing anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
Thanks to a joint funding initiative between the Safer Sunderland Partnership and Sunderland BID, a 4G camera has been installed in Park Lane.
Along with being able to monitor the activities in the area this clever camera also has a speech unit – which means anyone causing a nuisance or even dropping litter will be told in no uncertain terms to desist.
The camera turns 360 degrees and has no blind spots so is able to note everything going on in the area.
Park Lane was seen as the ideal location for this initiative because it’s a busy shopping area and a transport interchange and the installation of the 4G camera should play a great part in dealing with litter problems and youths congregating in the area.
It’s just another way we’re fulfilling our pledge to make Sunderland a safe and clean city to visit!
