SUNDERLAND’S LEADING shopping centre has unveiled a cracking Easter programme, with egg-stra special activities planned throughout the month (April).

The Bridges is helping families keep little ones entertained over the school holidays, with something for all ages to enjoy from 9 to 24 April.

Children are invited to let their creative juices flow with a selection of colouring sheets in Central Park, with more fun planned for the Easter Kids Club.

Taking place on 13 and 20 April, youngsters heading to the club can make the most of pottery painting, Easter-themed crafts, drama workshops and games.

And little ones attending the session on 13 April will have a very special visitor when the Easter Bunny drops by, while favourite children’s tv characters will be making an appearance on 20 April.

A soft play area will be set up in Central Square – priced at £2 for 20 minutes – with a goodie bag for each child at the end of their slot.

Groups can also make the most of the Ping Pong Parlour, opposite H&M, when it reopens on 9 April.

And those taking part in Sunderland BID’s Easter Egg hunt can spot the Bridges’ egg at Central Park from 2 to 30 April, with five more to find across the city.

Karen Eve, centre director at the Bridges, believes there’s something for everyone across the Easter programme.

“Easter is always an exciting time of year, especially when you have two weeks off from school to celebrate,” she said.

“We know it can be difficult to keep little ones entertained over the holidays so we’ve planned a variety of activities at the centre which we’re sure children of all ages will love.

“The BID’s Easter trail was great fun last year so we jumped at the chance to welcome one of the giant eggs at the Bridges and finding them all is a fantastic opportunity to get children out and about with their family and exploring the city.”

The Bridges is also sponsoring the Sun FM Easter Egg appeal, with a donation point in front of the customer service desk until 15 April.

Shoppers are invited to donate an Easter Egg to families in need, so every child wakes up with a chocolate treat on Easter Sunday.
