Summer Creative Workshops

These FREE workshops will be inspired by the Enchanted Garden Trail and the Bridges Dino Trail as part of the #SUN programme of events.

They will be held in a unit in the Bridges opposite the small Greggs (the old Menkind unit). 

The dates are as follows:

Wednesday 28 July  | 12 noon - 3 pm | Pebble Painting

Create your own magical and character-filled faces or fanciful creatures to hide in your garden, yard, plant pot or window box using acrylic paints or paint pens and other craft materials.

Monday 2 August  | 12 noon - 3 pm | Fairy and goblin door decoration 

Each child can select a door shape that appeals to them and then decorate it using various materials, paints, pens and stick on elements, such as flowers and gems. This creative and engaging activity will appeal to all ages and bring a little bit of magic into each home! 

Wednesday 4 August  | 12 noon - 3 pm | Dino puppet making

Mini palaeontologists will be flying high when they see these Dinosaur Wooden Flying Puppet Kits! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a pterodactyl! Watch in wonder as these prehistoric pals realistically flap their wings - the children will decorate and then assemble their very own dinosaur

Monday 9 August  | 12 noon - 3 pm | Enchanted garden Windmill making

This workshop supports people to decorate and build their own windmills to put in their garden. Whether you choose birds, unicorns or garden gnomes, these will add movement and colour to any garden, no matter what the size.

Thursday 12 August | 12 noon - 3 pm | Dino ceramic coin Bank decoration 

Using ceramic marker pens, children can decorate these ceramic dinosaur-themed piggy banks and later bake at home and then use them to save their pennies!

Monday 16 August |  12 noon - 3 pm | Flower Pot Windchime Making

Using a collection of beads, ribbon, chimes, sea glass and other beautiful objects, children can change a simple terracotta plant pot into a colourful and individual windchime to hang outside their window.

Tuesday 17 August 

10 am - 11.30 am | Hatching dinosaur egg
Create and decorate your very own dinosaur egg that you can help hatch. 

12.30 pm - 3.30 pm | Magical Garden Jars
Make your own magical jar garden, modelling pieces for your garden with clay and adding moss and seeds so your garden can truly grow. 

Friday 20 August 

10 am - 11.30 am | Dinosaur Slime
Decorate your dino egg container before mixing your own prehistoric slime to house your own mini dinosaur. 

12.30 pm - 3.30pm | Fairy Washing Line
Make your own flowery garden around your fairy washing line before making miniature clothes to hang on it. 

Sunday 22 August

11 am - 12.30 pm | Fairy Bath Bombs
Mix your own ingredients, choose your own colours and add a fairy charm to your bath bomb before decorating its container. 

1 pm - 4 pm |Build your own dinosaur
Assemble your own wooden dinosaur model, before painting and embellishing your creature and placing it on your decorated base. 

Monday 23 August 

10 am -11.30 am | Design your own Dino bag
Create your own design using dinosaur stencils and free hand drawing before painting your design. 

12.30 pm - 3.30pm | Plant Pot Fairy House
Paint a fairy house design on your pot in bright cheerful colours before adding moss and flowers. 

Wednesday 25 August 

10am - 11.30am | Sparkly Fairy Slime
Learn how to create your own slime, choosing your own colour and sparkles. Finally decorate the container to hold your slime. 

12.30 pm - 3.30 pm | Dinosaur Eye
Create your own dinosaur eye plaque by modelling clay and choosing your own glass gem eyeball, before painting the clay the colours of your choice. 

Sunday 29 August 

11 am -12.30 pm | Magical fairy tree
Paint the trunk and tree branches before adding leaves using different materials and finishing the tree with different embellishments.  

1 pm - 4 pm | Bird House decoration
Decorate your own bird house using different papers and fabric elements to create your design. 

Monday 30 August

10 am - 11.30 am | Fairy Garden Yarn Wreath
Wrap your wreath base in a yarn of your choice before adding the fairy shaped silhouettes to finish the design. 

12.30 pm - 3.30 pm | Dino Jar Lantern
Layer your jar with tissue and add your dinosaur silhouettes before completing your jar with moss and candle. 

Friday 3 September

10 am - 11.30 am | Fairy Furniture
Using different materials create garden base before crafting miniature wooden fairy furniture.

12.30pm - 3.30pm | Dino Fossils - Learn how fossils are made before creating your own clay fossil before painting it. 

Sunday 5 September

11 am - 12.30 pm - Dino Slime
Decorate your dino egg container before mixing your own prehistoric slime to house your own mini dinosaur. 
1 pm - 4 pm - Fairy Folk Glow Jar
Layer your jar with tissue and add your fairy garden silhouettes before completing your jar with moss and a candle.
