Things to watch
Let's Make Memories together!
Dress up and enjoy watching the community parade on Friday 1 November through the city centre as part of our Lights Out Halloween programme in Sunderland.
The parade starts at 5pm at the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
It will then move along Fawcett Street and High Street West finishing at Keel Square.
Here you will be able to watch performances from Sunderland College and the 2019 GenFactor winner and take some spooky photos with parade characters.
The parade is being co-ordinated by North East carnival experts, Creative Seed. They are currently working with groups from across Sunderland, coming up with spooky themes, terrifying costumes and characters, along with creating a number of exciting dance routines.
We hope you'll join in!

Beware Inflatable sculptures in the sky!
The playful 'Art Attack' is a fantastic piece of urban art that everyone can enjoy during the Lights Out Festival.
The huge inflatables are situated at Mackies Corner at the junction of High Street West and the others are flying from the roof of the Bridges Sunderland car park, near the TK Maxx entrance.
The inflatables are the work of acclaimed company, Designs In Air, which has worked with clients including the 2012 Olympics, The Eden Project and international performers, Cirque du Soleil.
We think 'Mackie's Monster' will form centre stage for a lot of October selfies!

THINGS that go bump in the night
HAVE YOU GOT ANY GHOST STORIES?
EVER FELT THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS WITH YOU?
Sunderland Empire is reportedly haunted by the ghost of Carry On legend Sid James. He suffered a heart attack on stage in 1976 and died on his way to hospital. Apparently Comic Les Dawson refused to play at the venue again after a run-in with James’ ghost in 1978.
We'd love to hear all your spooky tales on our social media channels!
