THE VIRTUAL PARADE
It's time to start thinking about Halloween!
We've altered our pans to make sure we can enjoy Halloween safely this year, and a special Facebook group has been created to provide you with plenty of hair-raising and eerie delights.
For obvious reasons, we can't hold the community parade. But our 'Virtual Parade' group will be the place to express and share weird and wonderful spooky ideas so you can enjoy Halloween at a distance or home.
We'll be keeping the group updated with the best alternative Halloween ideas, workshops and lives streams around Sunderland.
We hope you'll join in!

The Mackem Monster Hunt
When the monsters take over Sunderland, things will never be the same again...
Thirteen - an unlucky number for some but not when you're monster hunting in Sunderland!
From Friday 23 October until Sunday 1 November, take to the streets and find your favourite creatures hidden on landmark buildings.
You will find a combination of fun inflatable and Augmented Reality Monsters in the form of an outdoor community trail for all.
The monster trail can be downloaded via a bespoke app on to any smartphone, which will guide you to the various locations across Sunderland city centre.
The Mackem Monster trail and app will be available from Friday 23 October.

Sunderland's Spooky Stories
As it is the season for stories that go bump in the night, we have been on the hunt for the spookiest scary stories you'll ever write!
We asked for 500 words of mischief, mishaps and mayhem that would put a spell on our judges.
Sunderland's Spooky Story competition coincides with Sunderland Literature Festival and was been divided into three age groups - five to nine-year-olds, ten to 13-year-olds and 14 to 18-year-olds.
The deadline has been met and we are now waiting for the terrifying tales to be judged.
So watch this space!
